Every member of the Gornall Equestrian team has been carefully chosen by Jamie for their skills, knowledge and experience.
Jamie’s wife Averil has a successful interior design business (Averil Blundell Interior Design) also based at Home Farm. Averil was heavily involved in the building work and development of the Gornall Equestrian facilities but now mainly gets involved in more business aspects of the company.
As Jamie’s PA, Laura takes care of all the office administration and ensures that everything runs smoothly. She has a degree in equine management from Askham Bryan College and, before joining Gornall Equestrian, worked as PA to the executive director of the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA). Laura has grown up around horses and, in her spare time, competes at county level showing with her Welsh Section C.
Gornall Equestrian Yard manager Piotr is one of the best in the business. He has more than 15 years’ experience of yard management and show grooming, and has worked for top international riders such as Jan Tops, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Qatar National Showjumping Team and Leopold van Asten.
As a dressage rider, Stella understands the importance of flat work and ensures that all our showjumping horses have regular lessons in classical dressage as part of their training. She has more than 25 years’ equestrian experience and has worked with many leading riders, including Edward Gal, triple gold medallist at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and Kebie van der Heijden, member of Dutch dressage team and respected Danish trainer, Finn Greve who coached Andreas Helgstrand.
Gornall Equestrian show groom Sara has 10 years’ international experience under her belt. Enthusiasm and dedication to the job have seen her rise through the ranks where she has worked up to 5* level. She was previously employed in Denmark, Sweden and Germany, where she was show groom for Joachim Heyer and Max Kuhner.
Home groom Daniel has worked overseas in Romania, Switzerland and Sweden, as well as in Northern Ireland. He has also been on many showjumping tours, including the CSI 3* in Boras, Sweden, CSI 2* in Lummen, Belgium, and the Swedish 7-star Spring Tour.
Vet James is a director of Equine Reproductive Services (UK), which assists Gornall Equestrian with its frozen semen service. Highly regarded in the field of fertility, he is in great demand as a speaker on the national and international stage. He was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Equine Stud Medicine in 2010 and has performed peer review of manuscripts for the Equine Veterinary Journal and Equine Veterinary Education. He is recognised as an advanced practitioner in equine stud management and is a current member of the British Equine Veterinary Association. James is also an FEI permitted treating veterinarian.
An equine osteopath with a fantastic reputation, George takes care of the showjumping horses at Gornall Equestrian. Over the past 35 years, he has brought his skills to many leading jumping stables and shows – including supporting the teams from 15 nations at the 2016 Rio Olympics. A fully qualified veterinary surgeon, George has treated about 50,000 elite horses in the course of his career as an osteopath.
