Success at CSIO5 Budapest for Jamie

Another fantastic show for Jamie and the team, this time at CSIO5 Budapest, Hungary 9th – 12th August.

Jamie started the week on a high with all horses jumping clear on the first day; Carsten finished 9th in the 1.50m speed class and qualified for Friday’s Grand Prix, Christian was double clear in the 1.45 class and qualified for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier and Townhead Campus finished 8th in the 1.40m speed class.

Carsten continued his success on Friday in the 5* Longines 1.60m Grand Prix jumping one of only 8 clears out of the 50 starters in the first round. An unfortunate rail down in the jump-off put them into sixth place as the fastest of the four-faulters.

Saturday was another great day for team Gornall as Christian 25 jumped double clear in the 5* 1.40/1.60m Exim Grand Prix. Jamie was one of the ten clears in the first round from 40 starters and in the jump-off one of only four to go double clear. Portugal’s Luis Sabino Goncalves on Dominka Van De Licashoeve took the win by a quarter of a sec.

The final day saw Townhead Campus jump an easy clear in the 38-strong 5* 1.50m speed class which put Jamie Gornall and the Cartoon 21/Grand Canyon 13-year-old into eighth spot, 2.88 sec behind the winner.

The horses will return home from Hungary for a couple of weeks before heading off to another show.
